MENOPAUSE

DYSMENORRHEA
PMS

"He, who knows how to listen, hears wisdom.
He, who does not know how to listen, hears only noise."
Chinese saying.

Menopause is the process during which a woman stops menstruating and is also called the change of life. It usually occurs between the ages of 40 to 55 with the average being 51. When it occurs before age 40 it is considered early menopause. Women will go thru menopause early if they have had their ovaries removed or had radiation therapy to the ovaries. Smokers and underweight women tend to have an earlier menopause.

The process is lengthy and gradual beginning with perimenopause, which is when the ovaries'production of estrogen and other hormones slows down. The perimenopause phase can last for several years. Menopause has ended when a woman has not had a menstrual period for a minimum of 6 months.

Symptoms associated with menopause are: hot flashes, vaginal dryness, night sweats and urinary problems. One of the early signs or symptoms of the start of menopause is a skipped period or lighter or heavier menstrual flow or a period that is shorter or longer than is normal for that individual.

Hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause and affect about 75% of menopausal women in America. A woman experiences fluctuations in body temperature. When they occur at night they are called night sweats. The skin, especially on the neck, head and upper chest becomes uncomfortably warm or hot and you perspire. The heart may race or skip beats. Some women experience dizzy spells. Hot flashes and night sweats usually last 1 to 5 minutes and may be followed by chills.

Flashes and sweats appear to result from fluctuating levels of circulating estrogen which in turn affects body temperature. Traditional treatment might include hormone replacement therapy.

During menopause , women should eat a low-fat high-fiber diet, stop smoking and exercise regularly which can provide some degree of relief of menopause symptoms. Failure to do so can result in weight gain and the resulting increased risks of weight related medical conditions.

Women also experience sudden mood changes or depression during menopause. Nervousness, irritability and being tired are also common and can begin as early as perimenopause. Hormone replacement therapy is the common treatment for menopause.

Dysmenorrhea is an extremely painful menstruation. Most often it is treated with analgesics (painkillers). Sometimes it is caused by a tumor, infection or endometriosis which is a condition where the tissue that lines the uterus also grows outside the uterus.

Being stupid, isn't not knowing much, nor is it not wanting to know much.
Being stupid, is believing you know enough.

Excessive blood loss during menstruation can also lead to anemia.

PMS/Premenstrual Syndrome is a physical and mental distress that develops as the menstrual period approaches. Common symptoms include: swollen and tender breasts, bloating (retention of water), headaches, depression, mood swings and irritability. Although the exact causes are unknown most Doctors believe it is related to hormonal changes that occur during the menstrual cycle.

Most treatments for PMS are focused on symptom relief with lifestyle changes such as exercise, a healthy diet and several types of hormonal medications. Some relief for headache and cramping might be achieved with ibuprofen or birth control pills. The most recent remedy includes treatment with a class of drugs called serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SRIs.

We have a certain responsibility to keep our bodies in good health,
as far as it lies within our power to do so…as a loan from God.

Our NATURAL & ALTERNATIVE HEALING RESOURCE DIRECTORY provides information on great products and where to buy them that specifically target many of the conditions that affect "modern man" today.  Drinking Kombucha on a regular basis also may very well be the most important thing you can do to regain and maintain good health.

Simply drinking tea to relieve the distress and discomfort of "female disorders" might sound unbelievable to many. Medicine cures three tenths, diet cures seven tenths. From China

This ain't yo mama's tea

Kombu. .  what, you might ask.
What is it?

It is an Oriental fermented tea remedy that can be traced back to 400 B.C. where it originated in what is known today as Korea. It is perfectly safe and is used today by 500 million people around the world. Emperors, Czars and even an American President have used the tea. The President in the 1980/s was being treated for Cancer and was having metastases (spreading of cancer cells). A culture was brought in from Japan and incorporated into his treatment. He survived and lived into his nineties.

It wasn't until 1993 that Kombucha was introduced to the American public. Today, over 3,000,000 Americans drink Kombucha on a regular basis.

So what can Kombucha do for "female disorders"?

The fermentation process produces a variety of substances from acetylcholine, which benefits the body's nervous system to choline which normalizes blood pressure and prevents hypertension.

Kombucha seems to be the biological equivalent of STP gas treatment, carburetor cleaner and radiator flush all rolled into one. It works at the cellular and molecular level pulling toxins out. Glucuronic acid (GA) then binds toxins in the liver which are then eliminated via your urine. Toxins bound by GA cannot be reabsorbed by the intestines or the urinary system. This detoxification and flushing promotes a healthier bladder, liver and pancreas.

It is also an adaptogen in that it balances functions or systems that get out of balance. For example it might raise blood pressure for someone with low blood pressure or lower blood pressure for someone with high blood pressure. It is logical to assume it would have a favorable effect on hormonal changes.

Properly fermented tea is also the same pH as the stomach fluids are supposed to be. It therefore helps balance stomach juices so they are not too acidic or too alkaline. It is a living tea containing friendly bacteria and beneficial yeasts (not to be confused with Candida). It is very beneficial in nourishing intestinal flora and it also contains lactic acid and acetic acid which deter the growth of harmful bacteria.

Several important acids are in Kombucha which coupled with balanced pH create a hostile environment for pathogens. If pathogens can't thrive and multiply there is less chance of infections.

Since it aids healthy digestion, the nutrients in food and drink are more readily available for the rest of the body to use in performing the body's normal functions. Better digestion equals more energy.

Some Menopausal women reported that they have started menstruating regularly again since they started drinking Kombucha.

Many women report after drinking Kombucha they have a decrease in symptoms such as hot flashes, bloating, headaches and irritability. Menopausal women report reduced depression. This is linked to Kombucha's ability as a liver detoxifier. In a liver that is "burdened" it cannot conjugate estrogen properly.

When this happens, the estrogen is degraded into estrodiol, a noxious form of the hormone. Because the estrodiol cannot discharge thru the bowels it is taken up by the blood stream and re-circulated. This causes the symptoms mentioned above and can also include constipation and swelling of the breasts.

During menopause it reduces hot-flash discomforts. Just after dinking the tea you may feel a warm sensation due to the fact that the teas components join the blood stream This causes a draining action of toxic chemical elements and fluids. You will then notice increased mobility in your extremities and flexibility around your waist.

At a NNFA (National Nutritional Foods Association) several female attendees reported it helped with menopause. One lady said it balanced her thru the hot flashes just like she was sliding thru it. It's really helped my skin. I had always had teenage outbreaks and didn't have them anymore. Her 26 year old son was almost bald. After a few weeks on Kombucha he said, "Mom, I'm getting hair. My hair is coming back."

Some who are a few pounds overweight slowly drop 10 or 15 pounds in a few months and it stays off. Others notice their grey hair disappearing and thickening up.

Joyce in AR shares her Kombucha experience: My allergies are 90% gone-my asthma, gone. I don't have hot flashes any more. I have healthy fingernails for the first time in my life. Even my gray hair is turning back to its natural color.

Mrs. L. B. writes: I've felt much better since drinking Kombucha. Menstruation is much more regular and less painful.

Kombucha sometimes enhances the effectiveness of other medications and it is important to keep your health provider informed, if you are on any medications, so dosage can be adjusted accordingly if needed.

Did we also mention that many report it useful in getting relief from Candida yeast infections and recovering from Chemotherapy treatment. It might also be helpful in controlling Fibroid and Cystic tumors. See the separate web pages for those conditions on our Home Page.

Kombucha by itself doesn't cure anything.
It simply nourishes at the cellular level so that your marvelous body can heal itself.

It costs only about $5 a month since you brew the tea yourself. About 1 or 2 hours a month is needed for the brewing and cleanup. It's also simple. If you can bake a Duncan Hines cake then you too can be a Master Brewmeister.
